Before I started my photography business, while I was an art student, at the University of Minnesota, I owned a pet sitting business. During that time, I met some amazing people and I am happy to say that I am still friends with many of them. Keith and Alan, who are former clients of my pet sitting business, are an amazing couple who have fostered and rescued many dogs and cats. Two years ago, they moved out of my neighborhood to a great new place where, now, their fur babies have an amazing back yard to hang out in. Recently, I was finally able to visit their new home. They have two dogs and two cats who all get along so well! There is Madison the Beagle, Lexington the Rat Terrier and the two cats, Afton and Kingston who happen to look alike but are not related!
Afton, pictured above, is one of the most relaxed cats I have ever photographed. He loves hanging out in the fall leaves in the yard. When Keith placed him in the basket, he just made himself at home and was happy to chill out and pose.
Madison, the Beagle (above) is the newest family addition and full of energy. She had a lot of time to run around in the backyard, before her photos, so by the time picture time came around she was pretty happy to sit in her chair and strike some cute puppy poses.
Lexington, (above) has lived with Keith and Alan for quite awhile now and has stayed with my husband and I, a few times, when they are traveling. She is a little girl with a big attitude and can definitely hold her own around the “big dogs”. She is a Rat Terrier mix, just like my pup Etta and they used to have a lot of fun when Lexington would stay with us.
Kingston, the cat, was a foster who turned into a forever. I did not photograph him due to Covid precautions. He does not go outside and I have been doing all of my shoots outdoors since the pandemic started. He looks really similar to Afton (once again, pictured above) though!
I was really happy to catch up with Keith and Alan, see their beautiful new home (at least the outside of it), and photograph them and their sweet fur kids. They are kind and generous with their time, and energy, and have really helped a lot of homeless dogs and cats. If you are interested in fostering or adopting a pet, in the Twin Cities, you can check out the Humane Society, or Secondhand Hounds, which is located, in Minnetonka, just to name a few.
