Maxine and Nathan had the perfect combination of a micro wedding and a big wedding. They had a micro sized guest list (44 guests), a Catholic mass at the Basilica of St. Mary, and a cozy reception, with a family style dinner, at The Copper Hen Cakery & Kitchen, in Minneapolis.
Their wedding started with family portraits taken inside the church, followed by some last minute details such as Maxine having her veil attached to her beautifully loosely styled Chignon. Maxine’s veil and bouquet were the perfect complement to her bridal gown with its lace sleeves and bodice.
The ceremony incorporated a Catholic mass during which both the bride and groom were beaming.
The ceremony ended with an epic kiss, pictured below. While photographing the kiss, I was taken aback by how gently, but intensely, Nathan held Maxine’s face while kissing her. Love!
One of my favorite things about a wedding at the Basilica is the church itself. It is a magnificent structure with a rich history and stunning architecture. The Basilica of St. Mary, is recognized as one of the finest examples of Beaux Arts architecture in the country. Once a Basilica wedding ceremony concludes, everyone gathers on the front steps and the church bells chime, quite loudly. For me, the bells always evoke feelings of nostalgia, happiness, and reverence. Coincidentally, it’s also a great time to take photos! The little flower girl, pictured below, was doing some serious analyzing of those bells while they were ringing.
Once the photos were wrapped up at the church, post ceremony, everyone headed over to the The Copper Hen Cakery & Kitchen for an amazing dinner and drinks, speeches, desserts, and of course cake.
It was an honor to photograph Maxine and Nathan’s micro wedding. The ceremony and intimate reception, with friends and family, was perfect. Here’s to wishing them a lifetime of happiness!
