I have photographed the Lucas family, many times, over the past few years. This past summer they decided to move, to a farm, in northern Minnesota, so they would have more room for their horses and I’m sure a few other reasons! It’s actually part beautiful log cabin getaway and part farm. They have horses, dogs and several cats and the kids just love all of them. I know the Lucas family quite well because, well, they happen to be related to me!
Taylor pictured above with her horse, Cowboy, particularly loves animals. As long as I have known Taylor, she has been crazy about horses. Her bond with Cowboy is so obvious and it’s a treat to photograph her with him.
Stephanie, her mom, is also an animal lover and is pictured above with their dog Groot. Groot has the best temperament and is a great dog to have around kids. He wasn’t too interested in sitting still during our photo session, but we managed to get a few shots of him!
Odie, their latest canine addition is the white dog in the photos. He is a Boxer bred in Texas. He did better with the sitting still part of the session, than Groot, but was often distracted by one of the many kittens running around him. He wasn’t too keen on the dog fashion I brought along and his face, while wearing his red hat, says it all!
One of their adult cats had kittens a few months ago and the kittens followed us around throughout the entire shoot! Wyatt, the youngest of the Lucas family was climbing trees and, at one point, I turned around and noticed the kittens climbing up the tree behind him. It was a pretty funny moment, so I’m glad I was able to catch it. Moments like this can really “make” a photo shoot.
Madison is the oldest of the Lucas family kids and loves dance and fashion so she is always game for a photo shoot. Madison is very photogenic so I am happy I got a chance to get some great photos of them!
I had a really fun day getting out of the city, visiting my cousins, and laughing a lot! I never get tired of photographing this family and since I am related to them, I am sure I will continue to have many more opportunities in the future!
